In 1935, Russell Baum, an accomplished Philadelphia businessman, joined the network as a Liberty Dealer. Mr. Baum sold these innovative machines with such success across the eastern United States that customers everywhere began calling them “Baum” folders. Capitalizing on this massive brand footprint, Mr. Baum became the company’s sole owner in 1950.
Strategic mergers and acquisitions continuously drove the company’s growth and technological development over the next several decades. In 1999, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg)—the world-renowned leader in graphic arts equipment—purchased Stahl USA, acquiring Baumfolder in the process. Today, Baumfolder Corporation operates with pride as a dedicated division of Heidelberg, combining a century of American engineering heritage with cutting-edge global technology.
